New Year's Resolutions

As 2024 closes, my mind has been on my writing goals. I was sparked today by my friend Siobhan's Instagram post inviting her readers to slow down, be curious about themselves, and choose to see the world with wonder. She recommends journaling what-if questions. I did that today. What if I stopped focusing so much on querying Iggy's The Unlikely Hero? What if I switched that focus to the things I love which are writing and learning new skills? What harm would it do? My answer is nothing. It would only do me good. I have been stagnant here this fall; my mind clouded with the business of writing. I want to write and practice new techniques. I want to take more classes and learn from experts in their field. I want to keep my love for writing. So, that's my resolution. Thank you, Siobhan!
I recently wrote the following story for an online publication. It wasn't chosen, but I did get valuable feedback. It is a blessing to have an editor's thoughts offered freely. Most of the time you only receive an automated rejection letter or silence. I played with it all day today and it was so much fun! Along with creating new stories, I'd like to go back and edit some of my older posts. My blog outlook has always been to get stories out of my head and into the world without worrying about perfection, so they've not been very polished. They should make for some fun practice for me.
I hope you have a great December. I recommend you check out Siobhan's True Nature Coaching Instagram Page. She's a wealth of inspiring ideas.
