Ani's Summer Friday Faves: Favourite Dystopian Novels and Stories - Various Age Categories

Covers of the books listed

I have decided to list my Favourite Dystopian Novels + Stories in categories. Most of these novels and stories are well known so I will not go into details. I have always been drawn to dystopia stories and have reread the classics numerous times. I find Orwell, Huxley, Bradbury, and Vonnegut are about as close as you can get to non-religious prophets. It is crazy what has come to pass that they wrote about decades ago. I was first introduced to this genre in Middle School when a teacher gave us Harrison Bergeron as an assignment. I have reread it dozens of times. It haunts my dreams sometimes and destroys me if I am feeling particularly vulnerable.

The Greatest Dystopia Short Story: Harrison Bergeron - Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

Favourite Classic Dystopia Novels: Nineteen Eighty-Four – George Orwell, Brave New World – Aldous Huxley, Fahrenheit 451 – Ray Bradbury

Favourite YA Dystopia Series: Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins

Favourite Middle School Dystopia novel: The Giver – Lois Lowry

Favourite Teen Dystopia novel: Ready Player One – Ernest Cline
